What's New at A Stitcher's Retreat
Updated March 15, 2007
Here is our tenth and final special announcement for our 10th Anniversary Celebration Retreat!
Many of you have met Dick Wagar, my college roommate, who helped us at a recent retreat. What you may not know is that Dick is a talented artist. He and organizer Randy Turner have collaborated on a special item we will be selling in The Shop at A Stitcher's Retreat and Dick will have another art piece he did as well.

On the left, the photo shows a prototype of an art
piece that is close to how the finished product will appear. Designed
by Randy in honor of the 10th Anniversary of A Stitcher's Retreat and
handcrafted by Dick, the piece is made
from wood from the Elbean Covered Bridge in Miami County, Ohio which
was recently renovated. The bridge dates from the 1800s and the wood
which is used in this design dates from the early to mid 1900s. The
star is cut out of the wood and will reveal a fabric
background.
The second piece of art we will have is a calligraphy design by Dick. The words "stitch by stitch by stitch" are made up of various colors of ink, a beautiful facet that does not show well on the photo. The piece reads: "Stitch by stitch the threads tell their story, and together they paint a picture we otherwise may never have enjoyed." The frame for the calligraphy design is made from the same covered bridge wood as the other piece.
Both designs will have a card attached to the back with a history of the source of the wood.
