The Sauder Heritage Inn is the location for A Stitcher's Retreat's Tenth Anniversary Celebration! This beautiful country inn is a wonderful spot for one of our retreats. Located about 40 minutes west of Toledo, Ohio, this secluded inn is no more than a short day's drive from most of the Midwest.
First opened in 1994 by the family behind the popular Sauder furniture line, the inn is undergoing an $8 million dollar expansion that will provide ample room for next year's special retreat.
The expansion will add a unique indoor pool with natural rock features, a waterfall and a hot tub. The focal point of the expansion is construction of the "Great Oak Tree." Standing 25 feet tall with a 35 foot canopy and a trunk 4 feet in diameter, this "steel art tree" will be built to represent the majestic oak trees found throughout Northwest Ohio. This beautiful country inn has a spectacular lobby filled with massive timbers enhanced by blacksmith-forged lamps and railings.
The inn has lots of common area perfect for gathering with your friends to stitch.
Dinners will be served both nights in The Barn Restaurant next door to the inn. This 145-year-old barn stood originally about two miles from the inn. In 1974 the Sauder family had it transported over a five-day journey to its present location. After a year and a half of renovation, the barn became a family restaurant. Serving country fare with pies, rolls and breads baked in the inn's own bakery, the food is wonderful.
2007 marks our TENTH ANNIVERSARY! I have LOTS of special surprises in store. I pride myself on hosting unique cross stitch events, but next year I am going to work hard to make it a very special one you won't want to miss! I have lots of special surprises already lined up which I will be revealing in monthly updates on my web site. We will have special guests, special music, and lots of treats for those who attend.
