How is A Stitcher's Retreat Different?
A Stitcher's Retreat differs from other getaways and seminars you may have attended or with which you may be familiar. This page points out key differences.
We do not announce our kits in advance of the retreats. Because of the luxury facilities we use and the scope of our retreats, we announce our getaways far in advance and do not require the the teachers to design a piece a year early. Thus, when you register for a particular designer at A Stitcher's Retreat you choose that teacher because you enjoy their style and body of work. In fact, we do not reveal the class pieces for the main class until the actual class itself. The pieces are not displayed in The_Shop at A Stitcher's Retreat in advance, with extra class kits not being made available to attending stitchers to purchase until after completion of the particular class.
At our retreats, the kits taught as part of the package fee are not "teaching pieces" such as are usually taught at cross stitch getaways and seminars. These are brand new, never before seen, and for a limited time, exclusive kits. These designs will not be made available to the public until the TNNA/INRG Needlework Market the year following the retreats at the very earliest. Some will not be released until well later and some may never be released as they will serve as "teaching pieces" for other subsequent teaching appearances of the teachers. Even those that are eventually released will not be made available to the public in the same form as attending stitchers receive, as the teachers often change the design before releasing it and as the retreat kits are often packaged creatively.
These retreats are not for everybody. As I often say, we could hold them at a cheaper price if we held them at a Motel 6 and we could choose to accept an higher number of stitchers in the individual classes, but that is not what A Stitcher's Retreat is all about. We are dedicated to bringing you cross stitch getaways of the highest quality in unique and relaxing surroundings with nationally known designers and teachers in classes small enough to allow one-on-one contact with the teachers.
The retreats are not just classes and teaching kits, but an entire experience in locations of soothing ambience.
