Photos from the Indiana Retreat, 2005

We had attendees from 18 states: Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin!

The Teachers
Main Class, First Full Day of Classes

This year was Judy's first time to teach at A Stitcher's Retreat!

The Location

The New Harmony Inn Conference Center

An elevated terrace-covered walkway that leads to the
second floor of the conference center.

A garden right outside the conferenec center.

Like the town of New Harmony, the New Harmony Inn
is filled with original works of art.
This wooden sculpture of a shroud hangs in the dining room.

On the edge of town a small Harmonist-inspired temple stands at the
center of a hedge maze. One of many phrases painted in the domed ceiling,
this one seemed especially appropriate for our attendees.

 Optional Class

Helping a stitcher on the right, Judy really exemplifies the
one-on-one contact we always promise.

Miscellaneous

Stitchers gathered together for an informal sit-n-stitch in one of the
classrooms Thursday afternoon before dinner.

We did have a group from Michigan who were, to say the least, fun-loving!

Stitcher Angela Siburt registered just a week before the retreat!
She is stitching outsdie on the edge of the garden shown previously.

A good friend of ours, Ann Porter, was a classmate of Randy's in college.
Ann came as a non-stitcher, but soon caught the bug from Judy Whitman, who was
kind enough to give Ann quick lesson in cross stitch on the floor of
The Shop at A Stitcher's Retreat after everyone left! Ann prepared a scrapbook
commemoration of her time at the retreat, which can be viewed here.

NordenCrafts is a distributor in the cross stitch industry who has always been supportive of and extremely generous with door prize donations to A Stitcher's Retreat.

Repeating their generosity from recent retreats, owners Dave and Kris Stott went above and beyond, splitting the cost with A Stitcher's Retreat of our Grand Door Prize.

Lucky stitcher Amy Owens of Fountain Inn, South Carolina won an Ultimate Daylight Floor Lamp with accessories, an approximate $250 value!

Amy was a first time attendee. That's what we call beginner's luck!
As always, the cross stitch community was very generous and every stitcher
in attendance won at least one door prize, with many even getting a second!
