 The Teachers

Charland Garvin of Charland Designs demonstrates a
specialty stitch in one of the optional classes.

Charland providing the one-on-one contact and instruction always available at
A Stitcher's Retreat. The student being helped is Claudianne Jones, who certainly
travelled the farthest this fall. Claudianne came all the way from Alaska!

Overall, we had people from 15 states in attendance: Alaska, Florida,
Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, New Jersey,
New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia,
and Wisconsin. And Charland herself is from Toronto, Canada!

Two Very Generous Stitchers

Two of my most dedicated attendees! Cathy Sheehan (on the left) and Shelley
Glockner brought maple sugar candy for everyone's goodie bags, donated
by their friends at Hardwick Sugar Shack in Massachusetts. They also brought
a large bottle of maple syrup from Hardwick's as a door prize.

The Shop at A Stitcher's Retreat

Shopping in The Shop at A Stitcher's Retreat was just the beginning
in our weekend of stitching, shopping, and eating well!

Wendy had to have been our most intrepid attendee--and shopper--as even
an injured foot could not slow her down!

The Brandywine Inn

We were able to arrange a very special dinner our first night at The Brandywine Inn,
one of the Cincinnati area's hidden treasures. Our group was treated to a wonderful
five course meal. The first two courses were plated together: two pastry puff
appetizers (one filled with a crabmeat and shrimp filling and one with a beef mixture)
and a salad.

The third couse was an absolutely delicious colonial onion soup. For the main course,
stitchers chose between entrees such as filet mignon served with beef demi-glace sauce
(a steak which seemed to literally melt in your mouth), an almond breaded
chicken breast stuffed with spinach, mushrooms and cheese; poached fresh
salmon served with Chardonnay sauce; or sautéed shrimp with green onions,
garlic, chopped fresh tomatoes and white wine sauce.

The meal was finished with an excellent chocolate mousse.

Shopping Expedition, Part I

The wonderful shop Primitives & More opened up early exclusively for us
at the beginning of our shopping expedition to Waynesville, Ohio.

Primitives & More is jam-packed with great gift items!

Primitives & More also had fresh cookies and mulled cider for attendees

Ann of Brightneedle and Darlene, an attending stitcher, make a friend in Waynesville!

Happy shoppers!

The Scarlet Thread also provided snacks for our stitchers,
a heaping plate of fresh doughnuts!
