Photos from A Stitcher's Retreat 1999

Photos from the Ohio Amish Country Retreat, May 1999

At our second retreat, the teachers were The Heart's Content, Mosey 'n Me, and Twisted Threads. Unfortunately, no pictures were taken by A Stitcher's Retreat.

For a number of years I thought I would not be able to post any photos from the retreat but I recently ran across a delightful find! At the 1999 retreat, a senior editor of Better Homes and Gardens Cross Stitch & Needlework attended the retreat incognito, not revealing to the other stitchers she was there to write an article until the conclusion of the retreat. The article Stitching Retreats: Treat Yourself appeared in the January/February, 2000 issue, excerpts of which are on our Media Articles Page. The editor had mailed me a copy of all the photos she had taken. I recently ran across the envelope full of photos and am now glad to share them! Enjoy!

Music During Check-in

Stitchers and sisters Pavana (violin) and Aleta (cello) Baird provided beautiful music
during check-in in the inn lobby.

Craft Class

Proof that Frank Bielec of Mosey n' Me was crafty before his Trading Spaces fame!
Frank taught a craft class in which attendees painted a frame with such high tech "brushes"
as pencil erasers.

The Teachers

Judy and Frank Bielec of Mosey n' Me taught at our second retreat. Here they are giving
an impromptu makeup session for a stitcher who was not able to attend the regular craft class.

Maureen Appleton of The Heart's Content taught as well. This photo was featured
in the Better Homes and Gardens Cross Stitch & Needlework
article which is excerpted on our Media Articles Page.

Our dear friend Ruth Sparrow Gendron of Twisted Threads also taught. This photo
was also featured in the Better Homes and Gardens Cross Stitch & Needlework
article excerpted on our Media Articles Page.

The Location

Our second retreat was held in the heart of Ohio's Amish Country.

Door Prizes

From the very beginning, A Stitcher's Retreat has been blessed to have generous support
from the cross stitch community. Here attendees are gathered for door prizes
donated by many different cross stitch companies.

A cropped portion of this photo also appeared in the Better Homes and
Gardens Cross Stitch & Needlework
article excerpted on our Media Articles Page.
